The new generation of Tumbler Screening Machines
GKM presents:
The new generation of Tumbler Screening Machines in compact design with dynamic mass balance and automatic screen centring.
Basically the movement of a Tumbler Screening Machine could be compared with the manual hand screening operation.
They are being used mainly for the screening of powders and granules into various fractions and especially for very difficult and delicate to separate products in the range of 3 mm to 30 microns.
The standard construction is either in carbon steel or in stainless steel for food and pharmaceuticals.
It is recommended to do screening tests in the GKM test centre if no data or information is available about the product to be screened. The results are the later basis for the most effective use of the machine in production.
The screening process: The product is fed continuously to the centre of the machine where it is split evenly in spiral form over the screening surface. The finer particles are passing the mesh openings already in the centre of the screen and the coarser and narrower to the mesh opening sized particles will pass through to towards the outside.
The product being spread spirally will get an increased acceleration with increasing distance from the centre thus forcing the narrow sized particles through the mesh.
Oversize and undersize product will be carried out of the machine through lateral outlet spouts.
The outlets are mostly equipped with an adjustable deflector acting like a door and are leading the material faster or slower into the outlet. This allows an additional setting to the machine movement for the residence time of the material in the screen.
On each screen deck the same screening process is repeated.
The heard of the machine is the patented GKM adjustment which allows the adjustment of the most effective movement and residence time of the material in the machine.
The main shaft and the main pivot are set eccentrically with 25-40 mm to each other in order to obtain first a purely horizontal rotation of the screen body. The speed of the machine can be varied between 170 and 270 rpm.
Additionally to this horizontal movement the screen body is inclined in radial and tangential direction of the main axis thus creating a three-dimensional movement.
Due to the rather low speed of the machine the movement can be recorded easily and exactly by means of a special spring tensioned pen. The data obtained can be stored and transmitted by phone, fax or Email for control and later reproduction.
The following machine sizes are available: 600 – 1200 – 1600 – 2000 – 2400 – 2600 mm in diameter. Each machine could be equipped with one to six screening decks and for feed rates from 10 kgs/hour up to 40 t/hour depending on the product.
It is a basic condition for the continuous screening operation that the mesh openings are not blinded and open. For this purpose different anti-blinding systems can be chosen from a wide range such as rubber balls cleaning, rotating brushes, air-jet nozzles or Ultra-Sonic screen cleaning and their combinations.
The efficiency and the yield of product can be increased by an integrated double or triple rescreening capability of the machine for a particular fraction.
Today, GKM Siebtechnik has a knowledge and experience of 20 years in the process and screening technology. A perfect selection and choice of the best suitable machine is guaranteed.
The performance of existing Tumbler Screening Machines with operational problems can be increased, machines will be overhauled and maintained.
A fast screen re-meshing service is offered as well as second hand screens, new vibrating round screens and a laboratory air-jet screens.
